The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 We rained upon them a rain, and evil is the rain (of stones) on those that are warned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
