and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Indeed these disbelievers proclaim; – 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We did not create them except with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
