It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 Not a word he uttereth but there is with him a watcher ready. 18 The palsy of death will surely come. This is what you wished to avert. 19 And the trumpet blast will sound: It would be the Day of Doom. 20 And every soul came, along with a herder and a witness. 21 (And the driver will say:) "You were oblivious of this, so we have removed the veil, and how keen is your sight today!" 22 And his comrade shall say, 'This is what I have, made ready.' 23 It will be said to the angels, “Both of you fling every excessive ungrateful, stubborn person into hell.” 24 Hinderer of good, transgressor, doubter, 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ His accompanying devil said, “Our Lord! I did not cause him to rebel, but he himself was in extreme error.” 27 Allah will say: "Dispute not in front of Me, I had already, in advance, sent you the threat. 28 My word shall not be changed, nor am I in the least unjust to the servants. 29
