He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
