The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
