The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
