Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
