Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. 52 Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Only those who are, out of fear of Him, humble before their Lord, 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful because they will be returning to their Lord - 60 These people hasten to perform goodness, and it is they who shall reach it first. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Or say they: "There is madness in him?" Nay, but he brought them the truth [i.e. "(A) Tauhid: Worshipping Allah Alone in all aspects (B) The Quran (C) The religion of Islam,"] but most of them (the disbelievers) are averse to the truth. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed their afflictions, they would still persist in their insolence, blindly wandering. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 until We open before them a gate of [truly] severe suffering [in the life to come]: and then, lo! they will be broken in spirit. 77
