The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
