Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty Garden 22 its fruits are near. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
