Nay, and by the moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 About the criminals, 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
