The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
