And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 for, indeed, We had vouchsafed revelation unto Moses in order that they might find the right way. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Prophet Eisa) and his mother a sign, and We gave them shelter on a height, a place to stay and visible springs. 50
