The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
