The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
