The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
