O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
