The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
