The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
