He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
