Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit, Angel Jibreel - peace be upon him, brought it down. 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We cause unbelief to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy the good things of life for a few years more, 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 So of what benefit will be the comforts that they were using? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
