O Ye who believe! devour not usury, multiplied manifold; and fear Allah, haply ye may fare well. 130 Keep away from the Fire prepared for the infidels; 131 And pay heed unto God and the Apostle, so that you might be graced with mercy. 132 ۞ And vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil); 133 Those who spend [in Allah's Cause - deeds of charity, alms, etc.] in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the good-doers). 134 and those who, if they commit indecency or wrong themselves remember Allah and ask forgiveness of their sins for who but Allah forgives sins and those who do not persist in what they do while they know. 135 Those -- their recompense is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens beneath which rivers flow, therein dwelling forever; and how excellent is the wage of those who labour! 136 Many similar ways (and mishaps of life) were faced by nations (believers and disbelievers) that have passed away before you (as you have faced in the battle of Uhud), so travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allah, and disobeyed Him and His Messengers). 137 This is a plain exposition for men, and a guidance and admonition for the Godfearing. 138 Do not, then, either lose heart or grieve: for you shall surely gain the upper hand if you are true men of faith. 139 If you have been wounded they too have suffered a wound. We cause this alternation of night and day in the affairs of men so that God may know those who believe, taking some as witness (of truth) from your ranks, for God does not like those who are unjust. 140 and that God may prove the believers, and blot out the unbelievers. 141 What! You assume that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet tested your warriors, nor yet tested the steadfast? 142 You previously longed for death (in the way of Allah): now you have faced it, observing it with your own eyes. 143
