The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
