The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And indeed, abiding suffering did befall them early on the morrow: 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
