O you who have believed, obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn from him while you hear [his order]. 20 and be not like those who say: "We have heard", the while they do not hearken. 21 ۞ Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason. 22 And had Allah known in them any good He would surely, have made them hear; but (being as they, are) even if He made them hear, they would have surely turned away in aversion. 23 O believers, respond to the call of God and His Prophet when he calls you to what will give you life (and preservation). Remember that God intervenes between man and his heart, and that you will be gathered before Him. 24 And beware of that temptation to evil which does not befall only those among you who are bent on denying the truth, to the exclusion of others; and know that God is severe in retribution. 25 And remember when you were few, deemed weak in the land, fearing lest people might carry you off by force, but He sheltered you and strengthened you with His aid and gave you of the good things that you may give thanks. 26 Believers! Do not be unfaithful to Allah and the Messenger, nor be knowingly unfaithful to your trusts. 27 Know that your possessions and children are a temptation for you and that God has the greatest reward (for the righteous ones). 28
