The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
