Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said (unto Pharaoh): Put him off (a while) - him and his brother - and send into the cities summoners, 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said: O Musa! either thou cast down, or we shall be the ones to cast down. 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus was the truth established, and their doings proved in vain. 118 The magicians who were defeated on the spot and were proved to be worthless, 119 And the sorcerers were cast down, bowing themselves. 120 They said: We believe in the Lord of the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 "Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on apposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross." 124 They said: Lo! We are about to return unto our Lord! 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
