The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 They said: put him and his brother off, and send unto the cities callers. 111 to summon every wellversed sorcerer to you' 112 And the enchanters came to Firon (and) said: We must surely have a reward if we are the prevailing ones. 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 So they said: "O Moses, you may cast your spell first, or we shall cast ours." 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, then will I crucify you all together. 124 They said: "Verily, we are returning to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
