The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 He said, “You throw”; when they threw, they cast a magic spell upon the people’s eyes and terrified them, and they brought a great magic. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed and what they had produced came to nothing: 118 And thus were they vanquished there and then, and became utterly humiliated. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
