The elders of Pharaoh's people said: 'Surely this man is a skilful magician 109 who seeks to drive you out from your land. What would you have us do?' 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (awhile) and send out heralds to the cities 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 'Yes' he answered, 'and you will be among those near' 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So, the truth prevailed and what they were doing was annulled; 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
