The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
