The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allah and the Messenger." So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers. 1 They only are the (true) believers whose hearts feel fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His revelations are recited unto them they increase their faith, and who trust in their Lord; 2 The ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend. 3 Such in truth are the believers: they have grades of dignity with their Lord, and forgiveness, and generous sustenance: 4 EVEN AS thy Sustainer brought thee forth from thy home [to fight] in the cause of the truth, although some of the believers were averse to it, 5 Who argued with you about the matter even after it had become quite clear, as if they were being pushed into (the arms of) death as they waited. 6 And when Allah promised you one of the two parties that it shall be yours and you loved that the one not armed should he yours and Allah desired to manifest the truth of what was true by His words and to cut off the root of the unbelievers. 7 So that Truth may be affirmed and falsehood negated, even though the sinners be averse. 8 When ye sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): I will help you with a thousand of the angels, rank on rank. 9 Allah only made it to be glad tidings and so that your hearts may be satisfied; victory comes only from Allah; He is Almighty, Wise. 10
