The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ They (the believers) ask you (Muhammad) about the booty captured (from the enemies) during a war. Tell them, "It belongs to God and the Messenger. If you have faith, have fear of God. Settle the disputes among yourselves and obey God and His Messenger." 1 The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone); 2 those who are constant in prayer and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance: 3 Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision. 4 As it was your Lord who rightfully brought you forth from your house, even though some of the believers disliked it, 5 Disputing with thee concerning the truth after it was made manifest, as if they were being driven to death and they (actually) saw it. 6 And when Allah promised you one of the two parties that it shall be yours and you loved that the one not armed should he yours and Allah desired to manifest the truth of what was true by His words and to cut off the root of the unbelievers. 7 that He might prove the truth to be true and the false to be false, however averse the evil-doers might be to it. 8 And recall when you implored your Lord for help and He responded to you: 'I will indeed reinforce you with a thousand angels, coming host after host.' 9 Allah made it only as glad tidings, and that your hearts be at rest therewith. And there is no victory except from Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. 10
