O People who Believe! Obey Allah and His Noble Messenger, and do not turn away from him after you have heard him speak. 20 Do not be like those who say: 'We hear' but they do not listen. 21 ۞ Verily, the vilest of all creatures in the sight of God are those deaf, those dumb ones who do not use their reason. 22 If God had known of any good in them He would have made them hear; and if He had made them hear, they would have turned away, swerving aside. 23 O believers, respond to God and the Messenger when He calls you unto that which will give you life; and know that God stands between a man and his heart, and that to Him you shall be mustered. 24 And fear the Fitnah (affliction and trial, etc.) which affects not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong (but it may afflict all the good and the bad people), and know that Allah is Severe in punishment. 25 And remember when you were only a few and meek in the land, and feared that men may snatch you away – He therefore gave you refuge and strengthened you with His help, and gave you good things as sustenance, so that you may be thankful. 26 O you who believe, do not be faithless to God and His Apostle, nor violate your trusts knowingly. 27 And know that your possessions and your children are but a trial and that surely with Allah is a mighty reward. 28
