In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

ALIF LAM RA. These are the verses of the immaculate Book. 1 We have sent down the Quran in Arabic, so that you may understand. 2 We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this Qur'an, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless. 3 When Joseph said unto his father: O my father! Lo! I saw in a dream eleven planets and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves unto me. 4 his father said, "My son, do not tell your dream to your brothers lest they plot against you; satan is the sworn enemy of man. 5 "Thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of dreams (and other things) and perfect His Favour on you and on the offspring of Ya'qub (Jacob), as He perfected it on your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ishaque (Isaac) aforetime! Verily, your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise." 6
