The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
