The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. THESE ARE MESSAGES of revelation - of a discourse clear in itself and clearly showing the truth. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 And never have We destroyed any community [for its wrongdoing] unless a divine writ had [previously] been made known to it; 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 They say: 'Thou, upon whom the Remembrance is sent down, thou art assuredly possessed! 6 “Why do you not bring angels to us, if you are truthful?” 7 We send not the angels down except with the truth (i.e. for torment, etc.), and in that case, they (the disbelievers) would have no respite! 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 Even so we make a way for it in the hearts of the culprits. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
