Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
