We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
