Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
