And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
