At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
