And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
