And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
