The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We brought them signs, but they turned away. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 But they were seized by the mighty blast towards the morning; 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. 86 AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft repeated [verses,] and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an: 87 Cast not thine eyes toward that which We have let classes of them to enjoy; and grieve not over them, and lower thy wing unto the believers. 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 Of what they used to do. 93 Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. 94 For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,- 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 and worship your Lord until the last moment (of your life) that will most certainly come. 99
