AND THEY will ask thee about [the nature of] divine inspiration. Say: "This inspiration [comes] at my Sustainer's behest; and [you cannot understand its nature, O men, since] you have been granted very little of [real] knowledge." 85 If We pleased We could take away that which We have revealed to you then you should find none to guard you against Us, 86 (It is naught) save mercy from thy Lord. Lo! His kindness unto thee was ever great. 87 Say, "If all men and jinn gathered together to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce one like it, however much they helped one another." 88 We have indeed turned about for men in this Koran every manner of similitude; yet most men refuse all but unbelief. 89 And they say: We will not put faith in thee till thou cause a spring to gush forth from the earth for us; 90 "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly; 91 Or thou causest the heaven to fall upon us, as thou assertest, in pieces, or thou bringest God and the angels face to face. 92 or till thou possessest a house of gold ornament, or till thou goest up into heaven; and we will not believe thy going up till thou bringest down on us a book that we may read. Say: 'Glory be to my Lord. Am I aught but a mortal, a Messenger?' 93
