The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, 2 Where they will abide for ever; 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie. 5 Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement, that thou (Muhammad) wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps. 6 Behold, We have willed that all beauty on earth be a means by which We put men to a test, [showing] which of them are best in conduct; 7 Let it be known that We will turn all things on earth into dust. 8 Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
