The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
