Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Kaf- Ha-Ya-'Ain-Sad. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 AN ACCOUNT of the grace which thy Sustainer bestowed upon His servant Zachariah: 2 When he quietly called his Lord 3 "Lord, my bones have weakened and my head has turned hoary with age, but never, Lord, have I been disappointed in my prayer to you: 4 "And Verily! I fear my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir, 5 who will be my heir and the heir of the family of Jacob. Lord, make him a person who will please you". 6 [Thereupon the angels called out unto him: "O Zachariah! We bring thee the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son whose name shall be John. [And God says,] "Never have We given this name to anyone before him." 7 He said: O my Lord! in what wise shall there be for me a boy, whereas my wife hath been barren, and surely have reached an age of extreme degree? 8 Allah said: even so! Thy Lord saith: it is unto Me easy, whereas surely I created thee afore when thou wast not aught. 9 Zachariah asked, " Lord, show me evidence (if this is a heavenly news)." The Lord said, "The evidence for it is that you must not speak (to any mortal) though you are in good health for three nights (and days)." 10 So he came forth unto his people from the Sanctuary, then he made signal to them, 'Give you glory at dawn and evening.' 11 O Yahya! take hold of the Book with strength, and We granted him wisdom while yet a child 12 And tenderness from Our presence and purity, and he was God-fearing. 13 and cherishing to his parents. Never was he insolent or rebellious. 14 Peace be upon him the day he was born, and the day he will die, and the day he will be raised up alive. 15
