And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
